Terms of Service

1. What we do
Stau builds and hosts a website for your business. You describe the business, our software writes and designs the site, and you decide whether to publish it. Everything happens on stau.io. There is no sales call and no contract to sign.
2. The free preview
Seeing your site costs nothing and does not require a card. The preview link is private, is not listed in search engines, and stays available for 7 days. After that it comes down and the link stops working. If you never publish, you are never charged.
3. Subscription and price
Publishing requires an active subscription: $37 a month or $257 a year, in United States dollars. The charge repeats automatically on the same cycle until you cancel. Prices may change for new subscriptions, and we give at least 30 days notice by email before changing the price of an existing one.
Payment is processed by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale. Applicable sales tax is calculated and collected by them at checkout.
4. Canceling
You can cancel any time from your dashboard, with no fee and no phone call. Your site stays online through the period you already paid for, and comes down at the end of it. Monthly subscriptions are not prorated. Annual subscriptions are refundable within 14 days of the first charge if you have not used the service beyond publishing; after that, they run to the end of the year you paid for.
5. Your domain
Both plans include registration of one .com domain, in your name, up to the cost of a standard registration. Premium and reserved names are excluded, and we tell you before you choose. You are the registrant and the domain is yours. If you cancel, the domain stays registered to you through its paid term and you may transfer it out at any time, subject to the registrar’s transfer rules.
6. Your content
The text, photos, and logos you provide remain yours. You grant us permission to use them for the purpose of building, hosting, and displaying your site. You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload. The design and code we generate for your site are licensed to you for as long as your subscription is active.
7. What you may not do
You may not use Stau to publish anything unlawful, deceptive, or infringing; to impersonate another business; to sell regulated goods you are not licensed to sell; or to distribute malware. We may take down a site that does any of these and end the subscription without refund.
8. Availability
We work to keep published sites online continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages, and events outside our control can cause downtime. If a paid site is unavailable for more than 24 consecutive hours because of us, write to us and we credit the affected time.
9. Support
Email support is included with every subscription. We answer at support@stau.io and in the dashboard, normally within one business day. We do not offer phone support.
10. Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for lost profits or lost business.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
